Sillar Route

Our guide will explain the traditional extraction process and how this material has been used over the centuries to build the city’s impressive colonial buildings.
- We will continue our tour to the quarry of Culebrillas, a magical place where the sillar formations create an almost surreal landscape. Here, we will walk through narrow passages and admire the stone carvings made by local stonemasons. These carvings represent religious and cultural figures, and are a testament to the art and devotion of craftsmen.
- You will have time to explore and take pictures of this stunning landscape before returning to the city. On the way back, we will pass by some of the most picturesque neighborhoods of Arequipa, where you can see how the ashlar has been used in local architecture.
- Finally, we will drop you off at your hotel, completing an educational and fascinating morning on the Ruta del Sillar.
